Before you do it, like the above-mentioned case, you need to open the case, connect the hard drive directly with a hard drive connector, making it detected with your computer. I tried to open the case and connect the hard drive directly with a hard drive connector, but I guess I can’t access the data without the OS? Is there any way to do WD My Cloud recovery?’Īctually, yes, you can to WD My Cloud recover deleted files or format recovery. The PC is a little more work to set up network shares, the WD application is an easier route to take there. If you're in the market for a NAS, I recommend buying the previous model from Amazon, not the latest Synology, if you're looking for a better price. On the Mac the My Cloud shows up in Finder as a drive, just like the internal drive in a Mac, which makes interacting with the My Cloud in that way very simple. I have looked into synk, folderwatch, rsync, unison and a few others, but I haven't really found a solution. It should then just wait for the connection to be back again, without bugging me ever few minutes. The program should also be flexible enough to recognize that it sometimes (in the case with laptops) can not reach the NAS. I would prefer a daemon running in the background - waiting and checking for changes and then syncing them "live". I also do not want to necessarily invoke the sync process. As I understand it rsync is not really capable of doing a bi-directional sync. I have looked into solutions using rsync. Basically my own local version of Dropbox without using "cloud-storage". Each of the macs could edit files and the other macs should then get synced automatically. I am looking for a solution to sync folder pairs between a NAS and multiple local macs. ![]()
